Apple formally announced OS X Mountain Lion at WWDC Monday. IGM has run previews of many of the features demonstrated, but Apple did show us how those features are progressing. iCloud, Messages, AirPlay Mirroring, and Gatekeeper we’ve already seen in early stages. Apple though showed us Game Center for the Mac and some new features like Dictation and Power Nap, plus hooking directly into Facebook. Apparently Facebook is a little further out, as Apple indicated it will come as a future update. Also demonstrated were updates to Safari, additional support for China market and over 1700 new APIs for developers. Many features are familiar to iOS users, bringing some greater convergency of both familiarity and functionality. Mountain Lion is expected to ship next month for a super low price of $20 upgrade.
