Western Digital updated their My Passport for Mac to include USB 3.0. The external USB drive provides storage up to 2TB. Pricing starts out at $99 for 1TB, and up to $200 for that 2 TB model. USB 3.0 offers significantly faster performance for the latest Macs. The Mac OS branded product is ready to go for Mac computers out of the box with HFS+, but other than that, not significantly special compared to other external drives.

WD also announced a MyBook VelociRaptor Duo with Thunderbolt. The high-end storage solution contains a pair for 1 TB 10,000 RPM VelociRaptor drives with the speedy Thunderbolt connection. The drives can deliver near SSD performance of up to 400 MB/sec when in a RAID configuration. With that speed, however, you'll also get storage that's difficult to come by in SSD form. The enclosure provides two Thunderbolt ports, so users can chain on other devices. The MyBook Velociraptor Duo has a retail price of $899.99.
