NeoOffice/J 1.1A: A step closer
September 7th 2004
NeoOffice, a project to bring a native version of Open Office to the Mac, has marked a milestone with the release of NeoOffice/J 1.1 Alpha 1. Here's a quote from "the architect" regarding this release:
"I have finally finished upgrading NeoOffice/J to the OpenOffice.org 1.1.2 codebase. Now Neo/J can handle RTL (e.g. Hebrew and Arabic) and vertical text editing and can save documents as PDF! There are probably many bugs, but I think it is stable enough for testers to try out."
Those looking to do "real work" are encouraged to download NeoOffice/J 0.8.4. If you'd like to lend a hand in the testing of this release can start by clicking here.
Editor's note: A 127.1MB download and 353.7MB install, it seems stable and opened the half-dozen or so files I threw at it, including Chinese Big-5 docs and spreadsheets.
